During a two-week voting window that concluded on Friday, April 4th, 2025, UTSF members unanimously ratified our new local union Constitution and Bylaws.

At a meeting on Friday, April 11th, the Board of Directors of the Michigan Education Association approved these governing documents unanimously as well, recognizing UTSF as an MEA affiliate and granting us the legal standing to negotiate a contract.

These steps represent historic achievements for our union. Now that we have also achieved full recognition from MSU administration, we have all the necessary pieces in place to begin nominating and electing union officers, impaneling a bargaining team, democratically identifying shared bargaining priorities, and preparing to negotiate our inaugural contract.
