We are tenure-system faculty at MSU working democratically to organize an inclusive union formed by us, defined by us, and led by us.

A union gives us the power to meet the administration on an equal footing and to have a seat at the table in decision-making at MSU. Together, we are making our voices heard and demanding the respect we deserve.

We are teachers, researchers, and librarians from diverse backgrounds and disciplines across the university. Our knowledge contributes great value, and our work benefits students, brings prestige to the university, and improves the lives of people living in Michigan and beyond. Being organized empowers us to refocus on MSU’s core values and strengthen MSU's standing nationally and internationally.

We embrace our diversity and strive for equitable working conditions for all. We expect fair and competitive salaries and benefits with no salary caps or bands. We insist that the university provide resources to pursue excellence in our teaching, research, and service and to attract and retain diverse and outstanding talent. We support the strengthening of faculty governance to ensure the centrality of faculty in decision-making. We envision an inclusive university in which all workers are treated with respect and dignity. We are making this happen through our own efforts and in concert with other unions at MSU. An injury to one is an injury to all.

Together, we are working to protect academic freedom, prevent the erosion of tenure, ensure due process, and promote transparency and accountability in the administration’s actions.

Together, we are a force for change that is motivated from the center, not the top.
